Friendships across race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation
Abstract: This chapter presents a selective review of research on friendships across race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Special attention is given to research concerning the facilitators of and barriers to friendship across differences throughout the life span. The role of gender is discussed as an important variable affecting friendships. New directions for research are proposed as well.
